Rent the Harris

All entities must complete and submit our Rental Application Form to be considered for a rental. If there are additional questions concerning your rental or questions, please email rentals@harristheaterchicago.org

Our space was built with music and dance in mind, but it can also be the perfect backdrop for a variety of events such as a corporate meeting, conference, speaker series, podcast, gala, or graduation. We look forward to learning about the specifics of your event and offer this informational guide to give an idea of what is possible in our venue.

Please note that the Harris Theater Rooftop Terrace is booked and managed by Transwestern. For information concerning availability and pricing of the Rooftop Terrace, please reach out to Lara Ziemba, Director of Events, Millennium Park and Cultural Center at Lara.Ziemba@transwestern.com

Spaces + Equipment
The spaces included in the rental of the theater are the lobbies, donor room, and auditorium. There are three main lobbies that are connected to the auditorium and can be utilized in a number of ways, most typically as reception or patron activation space. Lobby Level 1 can accommodate receptions for between 100–500 people and Lobby Level 2 and 3 can accommodate 250 people for a standing reception, the Donor Room can accommodate up to 70, and the auditorium seats between 1,468 and 1,499 (depending on tech holds). To review Harris Theater Tech Specs, please click here.

Customer Service + Marketing
Included in the rental rate are front of house staff (ushers, greeters, house manager), box office, maintenance staff, and basic facility security. The Harris Theater utilizes the ticketing software Tessitura and has a union box office. Box Office set-up and standard staffing is included in the daily usage and offers the best customer service for your patrons. The daily rate is not inclusive of ticketing handling fees, consignment fees, credit card charges or any fees associated with late requests or expedited service requests. We do require renters to use the Harris Theater Box Office for all ticketing sales. Additionally, our marketing team will work with you to display your company and event information on our digital kiosks and how to best utilize our digital signage in the lobbies. We also have an inventory of technical equipment for onstage use included in the rental available for us.

Production
The expense not included in the usage fee is stagehand labor. The Harris is a union theater represented by IATSE Local 2 stagehands. The stagehands complete all production work for the theater (can include any assembly, installation and power needs within the lobby) and are paid at a separate hourly rate according to our collective bargaining agreement. We walk through each event individually to determine the unique production needs and then create the labor call accordingly. Please note that any recording or livestreaming is subject to additional fees per the collective bargaining agreement with IATSE Local 2.
